                ping - send an ICMP Echo Request to another host

SYNOPSIS
                ping host

DESCRIPTION
                The ping command will send a small message to a remote host on
                the network and measure the time for a response to be received
                from that host. This command is useful for determining whether
                or not a host is up and running and is reachable on your network.
